Find out more

Beta-glucan is a natural polysaccharide that forms part of the structure of many cell walls, providing them with mechanical strength. Depending on the source of the beta-glucan (grains, yeasts, fungi, bacteria...), its structure and properties vary. It is known for boosting the skin's immunity by stimulating the activity of immune cells (macrophages), thereby protecting the skin from pathogenic attacks and accelerating the skin repair process. This biopolymer also ensures optimal skin hydration by creating a thin film on its surface to prevent water loss, and by acting as a humectant, that is, drawing water to the upper layers of the skin. Some people have even gone so far as to say that beta-glucan is the "new hyaluronic acid", describing it as more hydrating than the latter. Well absorbed by the skin, it has the ability to reach the deep layers of the dermis. Indeed, studies have shown that beta-glucan has stimulating effects on collagen synthesis, thereby improving skin elasticity and firmness, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and aiding tissue regeneration. Lastly, it also has protective properties.
