Can You Slow Hair Growth After Removal?

Nothing is more frustrating than hair that reappears only a few days after a waxing session! Fortunately, there are a few tricks to maximize the time between sessions and slow down hair growth. We'll show you how.

Choose a Removal Method That Pulls Out the Hair.

The hair removal technique has a direct influence on the speed of hair regrowth.

Shaving and depilatory creams cut the hair but do not remove it to the root. This results in rapid regrowth, sometimes even within 24 hours but generally within 3 days.

Waxing or electric epilators, on the other hand, will pull out the hair. This will slow hair growth between two and four weeks.

A more radical method is laser hair removal, which completely eliminates the hair. However, this requires several sessions that are quite pricey. In addition, hair can grow back due to hormonal fluctuations, during pregnancy, for example.

Prepare Your Skin for Hair Removal.

Performed once a week, typically two days before hair removal, exfoliation of the skin stimulates cell renewal and removes keratinocytes accumulated on the surface of the epidermis, thus avoiding clogging of the pores. In addition, exfoliation helps to bring out the hairs under the skin, which will then be better eliminated during hair removal. The more you remove hair at its root, the less quickly it will grow back.

It is preferable to use fine-grained scrubs that are not too abrasive for sensitive areas such as the underarms, bikini line and face. The legs can withstand a scrub with more consistent particles.

Typology has developed two body scrubs based on exfoliating micro-grains derived from the grinding of apricot kernels.

  • The Nourishing Body Scrub helps to soften and smooth the skin. It is particularly suitable for dry and uncomfortable skin.

  • The Toning Body Scrub contains organic green coffee macerate (draining) and organic lemongrass and cedar essential oils (anti-cellulite). It is recommended to smooth, firm and tone the skin while reducing the orange peel appearance.

Take Care of Your Skin After Hair Removal.

Skin sensitivity increases with hair removal. To soothe it, cool it with cold water compresses or native aloe vera gel. In addition, to rebuild the hydrolipidic film that has been altered by hair removal, apply a nourishing treatment to the areas concerned. Our minimalist 10-ingredient body cream.

Immediately after waxing, you can start by applying the organic Aloe vera & orange blossom moisturizing gel to immediately cool the affected areas and deeply moisturize the skin. Then, once the gel has penetrated the epidermis, use the nourishing body cream Squalane 10% + shea butter. This treatment is enriched with nourishing active ingredients and will restore the skin's lipid barrier, reduce feelings of tightness and protect the skin from external aggressions.

Be Patient.

Try to space out your waxing sessions as much as possible. This will slow down hair growth and prevent it from growing back too thick. The less you wax, the finer and more discreet your hair will be. Pulling them out will be less painful and the result will be clearer.

What Are Grandma’s Recipes to Slow Down Hair Growth?

According to ancient beliefs, clary sage essential oil is particularly effective. Be careful, it is not used pure! It is recommended to mix 1 drop of essential oil with 4 drops of vegetable oil and to apply the mixture 30 minutes after hair removal.

Lemon juice can also slow hair growth when applied directly to the skin after hair removal. Be careful, however, not to over-inflame the micro-lesions with the acidity of this substance.

Nevertheless, we would like to point out that no scientific study has attested to the anti-growth properties of clary sage essential oil and lemon juice.
