Patchouli Essential Oil

Commonly known as: Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil (I.N.C.I.), Patchouli Leaf Oil, Pogostemon Patchouli.
Botanical name: Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Bentham.
Extraction process: Distillation by steam stripping.
Family: Lamiaceae.
Part of the plant extracted: Leaves.
Location: India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Philippines.
Flowering: End of spring.
Provenance, origin: Indonesia.
Phytochemical composition: Patchoulol, alpha-bulnesene, alpha-guaiene, beta-caryophyllene, beta-patchoulene, pogostol, nor-patchoulenol, alpha-copaene.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Viscous liquid; Color: Pale yellow to brown; Scent: Woody, herbaceous, aromatic, spicy.
Physical characteristics: Density = 0.952 - 0.975.
Benefits: Regenerative, healing, purifying, anti-inflammatory, toning, fragrant.
Concerns: All types of skin and hair, particularly scalps with dandruff; Recommended in cases of heavy legs.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it's recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, away from heat.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. When applied topically,do not useinchildren under 6 years oldand inpregnant and/or breastfeeding women.

Potential "estrogen-like" effect, not recommended in cases of mastopathy or hormone-dependent cancers (breast, ovary, endometrium)

As a general rule, always perform an application test of your preparation in the crook of your elbow, at least 48 hours before using it.
