Function:
Stabilizing agent, UV absorber, UV filter.
Origin:
Chemical.
Concentration allowed by European regulations :
Up to 10% (in acid) in finished cosmetic products except up to 9% in aerosol form.
Where to find it / them? :
Sunscreen creams for adults and children, sun lip balms, day creams, tanning oils, sun mists/sprays, tinted creams/gels.
Risks to health:
Suspected endocrine disruptor, suspected carcinogen, suspected mutagen (degradation to benzophenone with age), potential allergen, potential skin penetration.
Risks to the environment :
Persistent substance, bioaccumulative substance, poorly biodegradable substance, atmospheric pollutant.
