The Benefits of Buriti Oil for Hair.

The Benefits of Buriti Oil for Hair.

It is known for its benefits in skin care, thanks to its biochemical composition. It is also an ally of choice to maintain the hair. Discover in this article its virtues in capillary application.

The Oil of Buriti, in a Few Words.

Well established in the Amazon rainforest, the buriti is a huge palm tree that grows in humid areas and produces a large number of fruits that are highly appreciated by the natives. The oil of buriti is extracted by cold pressure of the pulp of these fruits. This allows the preservation of all the nutrients that constitute it, namely:

  • Fatty acids: buriti oil contains a proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids or omega 6, monounsaturated fatty acids or omega 9 and some saturated fatty acids.

  • Carotenoids, which give it a more or less orange color and excellent antioxidant and photoprotective properties.

  • Vitamin E (or tocopherol), which helps fight against oxidative stress.

Buriti Oil for Dry Hair.

Thanks to its content of essential fatty acids, this vegetable oil revitalizes dehydrated and dry hair and gives it shine. By penetrating the hair fibers, the fatty acids are able to limit water evaporation. They form a protective film to keep the hair moisturized. Furthermore, oleic acid or omega 9 is a lipid that is part of the composition of sebum, a substance naturally secreted by the body to alleviate the dryness of the skin and hair. To avoid having dull and brittle hair, a sufficient production of sebum is necessary. Oleic acid stimulates the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands and fights against the dryness of the hair which leads to its breakage.

To take advantage of the buriti oil benefits, simply add a few drops of this oil to your usual shampoo. Nevertheless, some hair care products are already enriched with buriti oil, such as masks, conditioners, or oils.

Buriti Oil to Preserve Hair Color.

The vitamin E it contains acts against the oxidation of hair fibers, which causes discoloration and dullness of the color. For its part, provitamin A promotes pigmentation thanks to its orange color. To preserve hair color, it is therefore advisable to take a buriti oil bath. To do this, mix a few drops of buriti oil in a vegetable oil (jojoba oil, olive oil, argan oil, etc.) and apply this mixture to your wet hair. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing and continuing with your regular shampoo. Buriti oil can also be combined with other compounds depending on your color. For example, chamomile extract is a good choice for blond hair.

Buriti Oil to Protect Hair.

Rich in vitamin E and provitamin A, antioxidant compounds, buriti oil protects hair from external aggressions (pollution, sun, cigarettes…) that generate an overproduction of free radicals. This phenomenon called oxidative stress is a factor linked to the deterioration of hair fibers, the appearance of white hair or hair loss. Buriti oil and the molecules it contains neutralize free radicals to prevent them from harming your hair and keep it beautiful for as long as possible.
