How to apply a radiance-boosting concentrate?

The illuminator, also referred to as highlighter, is designed to provide an overall glow to the face. Unlike the highlighter, it does not focus solely on the high points of your face.

The illuminator is more of a product that diffuses light rather than reflecting it: illuminating products are generally much softer and provide a more subtle glow than highlighters.

Furthermore, certain illuminating concentrates are hybrid treatments, straddling the line between makeup and skincare. They contain mother-of-pearl and/or pigments to give the skin a luminous appearance, as well as active ingredients that enhance the skin's radiance, such as vitamin C.

First and foremost, it should be noted that there are several formats for highlighters: serum, cream, stick highlighter, or even in powder form.

As for the shade, here's how to choose it:

• A rose or peach illuminator to display a healthy glow effect ;

• An colorless skincare for maximum radiance.

For individuals with fair and very fair skin, it is recommended to favor a rosy shade. Additionally, an iridescent beige is suitable for those with a slight tan. As for individuals with very dark skin, the ideal is to opt for a light iridescent brown highlighter. However, all skin tones can choose a colorless treatment for maximum radiance.

Just as the application of a highlighter depends on the product used, the application of an illuminator depends on whether a powder, cream, or liquid illuminator is used.

Given that illuminators are intended to provide a more subtle glow than highlighter, many makeup artists suggest blending the liquid illuminator with your liquid foundation or your moisturizer. For a quick and easy application, simply dab a few dots of liquid illuminator on the back of your hand. Then, pour your foundation or moisturizer onto the illuminator and blend until both products are completely mixed. Apply as you would normally with your foundation or moisturizer. If you're short on time, apply the liquid illuminator directly onto your face, then apply your foundation and blend the two products.

The cream highlighter is just as easy to use and apply. Similar to the liquid highlighter, you can either blend it with your foundation or layer it over your finished foundation, focusing on the high points of your face (your cheekbones, brow bone, and along the bridge of your nose). This second method is often the simplest, as cream highlighters typically come in stick or crayon form. It is then recommended to blend with a makeup sponge or your fingers. For an even more radiant effect, apply the product on your eyelids as an eyeshadow base - this technique is a foolproof way to enhance the eyes.

The powder illuminator can be used as a setting powder or on its own. However, unlike cream and liquid illuminators, it can be challenging to apply this type of product with your fingers. We recommend using a fan brush to gently sweep the product over the tops of your cheekbones and your Cupid's bow for a more subtle shimmer. As the illuminator emits a softer glow than a highlighter, it simply gives a more golden or rosy tint instead of shining all over the face.
