All About Blackheads.
Blackheads or “open comedones” are dark-colored plugs in the pores. The role of pores is to allow sebum and perspiration to flow freely. However, if the pores become clogged with impurities, dead cells or too much sebum, a blackhead forms. Indeed, in contact with the air, this unsightly mixture starts to oxidize and become black, hence its name. They are mainly located on the T-zone of the face, i.e., the forehead, nose, and chin.
Certain factors can promote their appearance: hormones, makeup, the use of unsuitable or comedogenic skin care products, taking certain medications, etc. Similarly, people with combination to oily skin are more likely to develop these imperfections because they tend, by nature, to secrete a higher than normal amount of sebum.
Why Should You Not Squeeze Blackheads?
As tempting as it may be, you should not be popping or squeezing nose blackheads, even though they are unsightly and embarrassing. Not only do you risk worsening them by infecting them with germs from your fingers and fingernails, which will cause an acne pimple to form and become super infected, but you also risk irreversible skin damage by causing scarring.
In addition, if the treated area has not been disinfected, it can cause them to multiply on the skin. Besides, they are usually either half-emptied or not pressed properly, which creates an inflammatory phenomenon. Moreover, avoid using patches to remove blackheads on the nose or chin. This method is quite aggressive for the skin. If you absolutely want to remove them, we strongly advise you to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist or a professional to remove them without damaging the skin.
How to Get Rid of Blackheads Without Popping Them?
To remove blackheads without squeezing or prevent their appearance, a good daily skin care routine is essential. Here are some basic steps to take on a daily basis:
The foundation for a clear skin texture is cleansing morning and night with a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. This will remove excess sebum, dead skin cells and surface impurities that can clog pores. In the evening, remember to remove makeup residue and other dirt from your skin with a makeup remover;
Unclog pores with the red fruit acid peeling mask once or twice a week. This treatment not only helps to detach dead cells and increase desquamation, without damaging the skin, but also to clean the inside of the pores;
Perform a purifying mask with charcoal and green clay once or twice a week to absorb excess sebum and purify the skin. Before applying the mask, remember to dilate the skin pores by taking a steam bath;
To finish this beauty routine, don't forget to moisturize your skin. During the day, use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 to protect yourself from the sun. The sun can promote sebum secretion. In the evening, apply a purifying night serum that will help regulate sebum production.
Of course, this basic routine can be completed with other treatments such as the use of a purifying toner with salicylic acid that will refine the skin texture, eliminate dead cells and tighten pores.
