The Different Types of Illuminator Makeup.

Whether an illuminator liquid, cream, powder or stick, all of them will give your complexion a radiant glow and an immediate healthy-glow effect to your makeup.

What Is an Illuminator?

An illuminator is designed to give the face an overall glow. Unlike a highlighter, it doesn't focus only on parts of your face.

An illuminator is more a product that diffuses

the light rather than reflecting it: illuminating

products are generally much softer and

give a more subtle glow than highlighters.

Some illuminator liquids are hybrid products, somewhere between makeup and skincare. They contain pearlizers and/or pigments to give the skin a luminous appearance, as well as radiance-boosting active ingredients such as vitamin C.

Most illuminator makeup is iridescent or matte, and can be combined with different shades.

  • Colorless face illuminators bring radiance and transparency;

  • Peach- or rose-colored complexion illuminators are ideal for a “healthy glow” effect.

Fair or even very fair skins benefit from choosing a pinkish shade with golden highlights. An iridescent beige enhances tanned skin. For darker skin tones, opt for an iridescent light-brown or iridescent beige.

Illuminator Makeup: Different Forms and Shades.

Depending on the desired effect, the best face illuminators come in several variations:

  • Illuminator pen or stick

Practical for small touch-ups, the illuminating pen offers a precise, subtle finish. It can also be used to blur dark circles. Its fluid texture captures light. To apply, simply click twice or three times to impregnate the brush. Then all that's left to do is sweep it over the desired areas, tapping with the fingertips.

  • Illuminator cream and liquid

If you're looking for a comfortable texture and a radiant-finish complexion, illuminating cream or liquid is ideal. Since illuminators are supposed to give a more subtle glow than highlighter, many make-up artists suggest mixing liquid or creamy illuminator with your liquid foundation or moisturizer. For quick and easy application, simply dab a few dots of liquid illuminator onto the back of your hand. Next, pour your foundation or moisturizer over the illuminator and blend until the two products are completely blended. Apply as you normally would with your foundation or moisturizer. If you're short of time, apply the liquid illuminator directly to your face, then apply your foundation and blend the two products together.

  • Illuminator powder

Illuminating powder is appreciated for its velvety texture and long-lasting action. Ideal for oily skin, it absorbs excess sebum, which tends to cause shine. Powder illuminator can be used as a setting powder or on its own. However, unlike cream and liquid illuminators, it can be difficult to use your fingers with this type of product. We recommend using a fan brush, to gently sweep the product over the top of your cheekbones and your Cupid's bow for a more subtle shimmer. As illuminator emits a softer glow than highlighter, this just gives a more golden or rosy tint rather than shimmering all over the face.

Why Choose Our Glow Drops?

Our glow drops, an illuminator liquid, are made from natural, targeted ingredients. It's a complex of active ingredients and the best face illuminator for a luminous, fresh complexion.

  • Vitamin C (5%)

Naturally present in many plants, vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant known to brighten the complexion, reduce pigmentation spots and slow down photo-aging. Extracted from corn, our natural vitamin C is stable to light and heat, and has been specially developed to penetrate the skin. This molecule helps keep skin luminous by trapping free radicals generated by sun exposure, pollution, or smoking. The skin is thus better protected from external aggressions.

  • Aloe vera

Rich in minerals, vitamins and amino acids, aloe vera pulp is renowned for its moisturizing and soothing properties. Its high water retention capacity helps combat dehydration and soften the epidermis, making it ideal for fragile or damaged skin. Its soothing action is also appreciated by irritated, sensitive or reddened skin.
