Hyaluronic acid is a hydrophilic molecule that has the ability to retain up to a thousand times its weight in water. Responsible for the skin's natural hydration, it is present in the dermis, the deep layer of the skin. Over the years, the amount of hyaluronic acid decreases, which promotes the appearance and establishment of wrinkles and fine lines on the skin's surface.
To delay this natural process, hyaluronic acid injections are offered in cosmetic surgery clinics or directly by dermatologists. As the name suggests, this method involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the sagging areas of the skin using a syringe or cannula.
An injection session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes, the results are immediate and the patient can resume their activities immediately after the procedure. The difference after the procedure is visible right away. The results obtained can last up to about one year. However, this duration can vary from one person to another, depending on the quality of the skin and the type of hyaluronic acid used.

Indeed, a natural cycle of skin cell renewal lasts approximately 28 days. During this cycle, new cells are born at the level of the basal layer, which is the deepest layer of the epidermis. As the cycle progresses, these cells migrate to the skin's surface. During this process, they lose their nuclei and transform into dead cells. They then make up the horny layer, the most superficial layer of the epidermis. The dead cells or keratinocytes are then shed (either naturally, or through chemical or mechanical exfoliation) and a new cell cycle begins.
Therefore, 28 days corresponds to the time it takes for the skin to regenerate and fully integrate the benefits of the hyaluronic acid treatment that you regularly apply. This time span is necessary to observe its effects!
