Arnica Oily Macerate

Commonly known as: Arnica Montana (Arnica) Flower Extract (I.N.C.), Arnica flower extract, Alpine plantain, Falling herb, Mountain tobacco, Poor man's quince, Vosges betony.
Botanical name: Arnica Montana L.
Extraction process: Maceration of the dried flowers of arnica during 14 days in vegetable oil of sunflower.
Family: Asteraceae
Part of the plant extracted: Flowers.
Location: Mountainous regions of Europe (from the south of Norway and Latvia to the south of Portugal).
Flowering: May, June, July.
Provenance, origin: United Kingdom
Phytochemical composition: Polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (linoleic acid), monounsaturated essential fatty acids (oleic acid), saturated essential fatty acids (stearic acid, palmitic acid), carotenoids, sesquiterpene lactones (helenaline, arnifoline, arnicolides, etc...), phytosterols (sitosterol, lactucerol, etc...), coumarins.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Oily liquid; Color: Yellow to brown; Odor: Floral, slightly bitter; Touch: Dry.
Physical characteristics: Quality: 100% of natural ingredients; Density = 0,910 - 0,925; Lipophilic (soluble in oil); Oxidative potential: Sensitive; Comedogenic index = 0; Saponification index = 188 - 194.
Benefits: Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, healing, relaxing, circulatory, soothing, emollient, fragrant, antioxidant.
Concerns: All skin types and particularly irritated skin or skin prone to redness and dull skin. Also recommended for sensations of heavy legs, aches and pains (muscle tension) and haematomas.

Use

Face care (face mask, face cream, serum, lip balm, eye contour gel); Body care (after sport gel and cream, soothing balm, solid soap, milk, massage oil, scrub).

Preservation

Oily macerate sensitive to oxidation, so keep preferably in a cool place, away from heat and light, in its amber bottle. Close the bottle after use.

Contra-Indications and Precautions

There are no contra-indications to the cosmetic use of the oily macerate of arnica. However, the people allergic to the Asteraceae must ask for a medical opinion before use. Pregnant women and young children can use it. Avoid eye contact. It is advised not to use it on open wounds.
