Function:
Preservative, antimicrobial, antistatic, emulsifying agent, cationic surfactant.
Origin:
Synthetic.
Concentration allowed by European regulations :
Up to 2.5% in rinse-off products for hair and facial hair. Up to 1% in the products without rinsing for the hair and the facial hair. Up to 0.5% in leave-on facial products. Up to 0.1% in finished cosmetic products as a preservative.
Where to find it / them? :
Dry shampoos, styling foams, detanglers, hair masks, hand wipes, conditioners, scrub, face creams, facial cleansers.
Risks to health:
Potential skin irritant, potential allergen.
Risks to the environment :
Suspected aquatic ecotoxicity.
