Dull Hair
Definition:
Hair that lacks shine and does not reflect light but absorbs it because the scales that make up the hair are too far apart, resulting in damaged hair.
Internal and external causes:
Pollution, smoking, extreme temperatures, tight hairstyles, inappropriate care, regular wearing of hats/bonnets/helmets, stress, dietary deficiencies (in iron, fatty acids, vitamin B...), dry hair, intensive use of heated styling devices, frequent bleaching, exposure to the sun without protection.
How to reduce or eliminate:
Adopt a shampoo, conditioner, and mask rich in emollients, humectants, and nutrients to hydrate and nourish the hair; finish washing the hair with a cold water rinse to tighten the cuticles.
Preventative steps to take:
Protect your hair from the sun; do not overuse hair dyes; rinse thoroughly to completely remove all product residues; gently dry your hair with a towel; limit the use of hair dryers; do not brush your hair too aggressively; maintain a balanced diet; avoid harsh shampoo formulas containing silicone or sulfate; use a heat protector on your hair; regularly detangle your hair.
