Cosmetic dye.
Origin:
Synthetic.
Concentration allowed by European regulations :
Purity criteria: aniline ≤ 0.2%; 2-naphthol ≤ 0.2%; 4-aminoazobenzene ≤ 0.1%; 1-(phenylazo)-2-naphthol ≤ 3%; 1-[2-(phenylazo)phenylazo]-2-napthalenol ≤ 2%.
Where to find it / them? :
Hair oils, nail polish removers, moisturizing oils for the body and face, nail polish, sun sprays.
Risks to health:
Suspected carcinogen (release of 4-aminoazobenzene classified in group 2B by IARC and considered by ECHA as a proven carcinogen).
Risks to the environment :
Proven aquatic ecotoxicity, bioaccumulative substance, persistent substance.
