Everything you need to know about permanent makeup.

Permanent makeup is often used to enhance the eyebrow line, enlarge the eyes, and correct the curvature of the lips. Known for its long-lasting effect, permanent makeup is, however, not permanent. Here, we provide all the information about it.

What is permanent makeup?

This refers to a makeup technique that is similar to tattooing. Permanent makeup involves inserting pigments into the dermis to color certain parts of the face. The areas targeted are the eyebrows, lips, and eyelids.

Permanent makeup was developed to optimize makeup application time, as well as to address certain inconveniences, such as the tendency of eyeliner to smudge, for example.

Procedures performed in permanent makeup:

  • The eyeliner;

  • The lipstick;

  • Freckles;

  • Eyeshadows;

  • Moles.

Permanent makeup mimics the effect of conventional makeup, but it also allows for reconstruction and repair. For instance, it can restore thickness to sparse eyebrows and correct their shape.

The Risks of Permanent Makeup

The process of permanent makeup involves inserting pigments into the dermis using a fine needle. However, these pigments can change color over time, depending on the characteristics of the skin.

Just like tattooing, permanent makeup can also cause infections. Depending on the characteristics of the skin, the healing speed after permanent makeup can vary from one individual to another.

A permanent makeup can last two to five years. Removing permanent makeup is challenging. That's why we advise you to take the time to think it over before you proceed.

Pre and post permanent makeup care

The skin needs to be prepared before undergoing permanent makeup. For permanent makeup on the eyebrow area, for example, it is recommended to perform a scrub within forty-eight hours before the procedure. This will help remove dead skin and free emerging hairs. You can then use our regenerating facial scrub with olive squalane. This treatment will aid in skin renewal, while unclogging pores. The geranium essential oil contained in this treatment will help your skin regenerate, by stimulating the synthesis of collagen responsible for skin elasticity.

After permanent makeup, the skin becomes sensitized. During the first week following the application of permanent makeup, you should avoid:

  • Saunas and tanning booths;

  • Exposure to the sun;

  • The application of makeup on the treated area;

  • The use of skincare products containing fatty substances.

For a permanent makeup applied to the lips, it is recommended to avoid the application of lipstick during the first week. However, you can use our nine-ingredient lip balm, made up of 99.8% natural ingredients to nourish your skin and reduce feelings of tightness.

Exposure to the sun can degrade the pigments inserted into the dermis. That's why we advise you to consistently apply a sunscreen, to preserve the colors of your permanent makeup. As it is not definitive, permanent makeup can be corrected every two to three years depending on the area concerned.
