Find out more

With a chemical structure similar to that of the benzophenone class of drugs, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate is an organic UV filter used in sun care products to minimize skin and hair overexposure to harmful UVA rays, specifically long UVA-I (340 to 400 nm), which can lead to acute and chronic photodamage. Indeed, it absorbs, reflects, and scatters UVA rays by forming a protective shield on the surface of the epidermis. In addition to its high absorption in the UVA range, it exhibits good photostability and could even serve as a good alternative to avobenzone, a popular UVA sunscreen filter.
