Unlike industrial soaps, natural soaps are produced using a traditional method: cold process saponification. This method allows the preservation of the properties of each ingredient that makes up the soap. Here are four good reasons to choose a natural soap made through cold process saponification.
Four good reasons to use a natural soap.
- 1. Prevent skin dehydration
- 2. A soap used by all skin types
- 3. The absence of synthetic ingredients
- 4. An ecological and economical gesture
1. Prevent skin dehydration.
Traditional soaps remove the hydrolipidic film formed on the surface of the epidermis during rinsing. However, this natural barrier helps to limit the loss of water present in the skin and protect it from external aggressions. Indeed, the glycerin naturally formed during the saponification process with moisturizing properties has been removed from industrial soaps. On the contrary, the use of superfatted soap obtained by cold saponification does not alter the protective film on the skin but nourishes and protects it. Indeed, the surplus of non-saponified vegetable fats creates a slight layer of fat on the surface of the skin to reinforce the hydrolipidic film. Moreover, this type of soap has retained its glycerin naturally formed at the end of this reaction. Thus, with superfatted soaps, you can be protected from skin dryness and the feeling of tightness experienced after showering.
2. A soap used by all skin types.
Traditional solid soaps are known to dry out and tighten the skin after showering. This is not the case for cold-processed soaps which are rich in glycerin, a natural emollient that hydrates and softens the skin. Thus, these cleansing treatments are suitable for all skin types, even sensitive, reactive, or allergy-prone skin can use superfatted soap all year round. Indeed, this soap is free of stripping products and fragrance, and contains more hydrating and nourishing agents than a caustic soap. Even the delicate skin of a baby is allowed to use a superfatted soap (as long as it does not contain essential oils). Additionally, superfatted soap can be used for cleansing the body and face.
3. The absence of synthetic ingredients.
As a general rule, natural soaps do not contain any chemical elements other than lye. Indeed, no preservatives are necessary to maintain the properties of the ingredients or the texture of the soap. No synthetic products, no artificial color pigments, and no foaming agents are also included in natural soap. However, these chemical elements can sometimes be irritating, allergenic, and harsh on the skin. Synthetic ingredients can also cause targeted problems that damage and weaken the skin. No synthetic fragrances are used either. The essential oils added are 100% natural and provide an additional care effect to the cleansing care product.
4. An ecological and economical gesture.
Choosing a natural soap is a step towards environmental conservation. Indeed, superfatted natural soaps cold-processed are entirely biodegradable. Their manufacturing method does not present any significant biological impact. The raw materials used are also non-polluting. As cold saponification is a slow reaction, it requires little energy. Moreover, natural soaps prove to be quite economical compared to liquid soaps. They are packaged in cardboard or paper bags that are recyclable or biodegradable. Some are even presented naked.
