How Often Do You Remove Hair?

Even though hair removal is by no means mandatory and remains a social habit, many people choose to remove their hair regularly. The frequency of hair removal sessions is important because it will affect how quickly the hair grows back.

How Long Should I Wait Between Waxing Sessions?

In general, there is no particular rule. The answer to this question depends on the area and the individual's hairiness. Waxing or epilating with an electric epilator causes the bulb to be pulled out. The hair thus takes much longer to grow back than when it is simply cut (with a razor or depilatory cream, for example).

In general, hair removal sessions can be spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. However, this remains an average. Some people may need to wax every two weeks, while others may need to wax every two months.Note: This frequency is not the same for shaving and depilatory creams. These techniques cut the hair but do not remove it. This results in rapid regrowth, sometimes within 24 hours but usually within 3 days. In this case, people shave every 2–3 days.

When To Wax?

According to general beliefs, after the full moon, hair follicles tend to grow back less quickly. For this reason, it is better to do a hair removal session when the moon is in its waning phase. However, we would like to point out that there are no scientific studies on this subject.

Hair removal can be done in the morning, in the evening or during the day. There is no specific time of day for this type of practice.

Just avoid waxing during your period. Hormonal factors affect the sensitivity of the skin. At the beginning of the menstrual cycle, it becomes sensitive. During this time of hyperreactivity, avoid waxing and/or the electric epilator.

It is also advisable not to remove hair 12 hours before and 12 hours after exposure to the sun. In fact, sunbathing before waxing increases skin sensitivity and reactivity. There will therefore be more pain during hair removal. Exposure to the sun after removal is also a bad idea because the skin is more sensitive than usual and less well protected from UV rays because it has no hair. The epidermis is weakened and becomes all the more sensitive and receptive to the harmful effects of the sun.
