How to sort your cosmetics?

Cosmetic care is essential for health and well-being. That's why it's important to choose them carefully. Whether it's shower gel, mascara, face cream, or shampoo, the market offers a wide range of choices. If your beauty products are starting to clutter your shelf or cupboard, it might be time to consider sorting them out to make some room. We provide some simple tips for sorting through your cosmetics.

What is the benefit of sorting your cosmetic products?

Sorting through your cosmetic products is necessary for various reasons. Firstly, this process allows for organization while adding aesthetic appeal to the room. Indeed, it's never pleasant to see multiple layers of makeup piled on top of each other. By getting rid of unnecessary and cluttering skincare products, you will save time in the morning during your beauty routine. Additionally, you will easily identify those that are expired and those that need to be discarded. Don't forget that after the intended use date, both the texture and effectiveness change, which could potentially harm your skin.

Some tips for sorting your cosmetics.

For optimal effectiveness, you should start by clearing your shelves, cupboards, or drawers. Nothing should be left cluttering the edges of the shower, sink, or bathtub.

Next, it is necessary to place all the skincare products in one location to facilitate sorting. You will need to divide them into three groups:

  • The skincare to preserve;

  • The care to be provided;

  • Discarding skincare products: damaged, expired, etc.

The skincare products you should keep are those you use daily. These may include lipsticks, foundations, mascaras, and treatments for the face or body. The products you should give away are those that no longer serve you. After testing them, you may have found that they do not truly meet your expectations or do not suit your complexion. Thus, you can offer them to loved ones. As for expired products, remember to properly recycle the packaging: empty the containers without necessarily having to wash them, separate the lid/cap from the bottles/jars when the material is different from the rest of the packaging, and then throw them in the appropriate recycling bin.

Organization should be based on their utility or frequency of use. Those that you use daily should be within reach. As for the treatments that are used less frequently, they should be placed in a less accessible area. The goal of this work is to have a minimalist, functional, and efficient storage space.
