Clove Essential Oil

Commonly known as: Eugenia Caryophyllus Bud Oil (I.N.C.I.), Clove, Clove Tree.
Botanical name: Eugenia caryophyllus.
Extraction process: Steam distillation of floral buds.
Family: Myrtaceae.
Part of the plant extracted: Dried floral buds.
Location: Originally from Indonesia, it is now cultivated in various tropical countries such as Zanzibar, Madagascar, Malaysia, Brazil, Indonesia, Eastern India, and Sri Lanka.
Flowering: Varying across different regions of the world.
Provenance, origin: Indonesia.
Phytochemical composition: Eugenol, eugenyl acetate, beta-caryophyllene, benzyl benzoate, linalool, isoeugenol, limonene, benzyl salicylate.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: More or less viscous liquid; Color: Light brown to yellow; Scent: Spicy, aromatic, distinctive.
Physical characteristics: Density: 1.042 - 1.063 g/cm3.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it's recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, away from heat.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. When applied topically,do not useinchildren under 6 years oldand inpregnant and/or breastfeeding women.

Some natural compounds found in this essential oil, such as eugenol, may pose an allergy risk for certain sensitive individuals when the essential oil is incorporated into a cosmetic composition (according to the 7th Amendment of the European Directive on cosmetic products (2003/15/EC)).

As a general rule, always perform an application test of your preparation on the inside of your elbow, at least 48 hours before using it.
