Commonly known as: Helichrysum Italicum Flower Oil (I.N.C.I.), essential oil of Italian helichrysum.
Botanical name: Helichrysum italicum.
Extraction process: Distillation by steam stripping.
Family: Asteraceae.
Part of the plant extracted: Flowering tops.
Location: Mediterranean region (Algeria, Morocco, Cyprus, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, France, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain).
Flowering: June to October.
Provenance, origin: Italy.
Phytochemical composition: Neryl acetate, alpha-pinene, eucalyptol, gamma-curcumene, italidiones, limonene, linalool, benzyl cinnamate.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Clear, mobile liquid; Color: Colorless to red; Scent: Fruity, almond-like, dry, hay-like.
Physical characteristics: Density = 0.88 - 0.92; Refractive Index: 1.465 - 1.49.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it's recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, shielded from light, in well-ventilated areas, at a stable and moderate temperature.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. Not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not to be used by children. Do not use pure essential oil on the skin or mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the area around the eyes, or inside the ears.

Note : Please be aware, theessential oil of Italian helichrysum (or immortelle) should be avoided in case of heavy menstruation or anticoagulant treatment.
