What are plant native cells?
Plant native cells are whole cells that are locally harvested from the plant. They are derived from a biotechnological process that respects the environment and biodiversity. This process takes place in several stages:
Selection of the plant and sampling: Taking a piece from the plant (leaves);
Cultivation in vitro of the harvested plant piece: Successive transplantations onto a fresh nutritive medium composed of water, minerals, sugar, and vitamins;
Elicitation: Stimulation of cell culture through UV and visible light to produce metabolites (active molecules);
Rinsing: Removal of all traces of the nutrient medium;
Cell Filtration ;
Sonication of cells and dispersion of the extract in sunflower oil.
This extraction method allows for the preservation of all active molecules present in the plant cells, which gives this compound a complementary action compared to other plant extracts (vegetable oils, essential oils, and hydrosols).

Highly renowned in China for several centuries, the peony is a flower with numerous subspecies, which gives rise to grand events: flower shows and exhibitions follow one another throughout the country at the time of blooming. Originating from Central and Eastern Asia, it is a slow-growing herbaceous plant that naturally grows in woods and meadows. However, it has been cultivated in several regions of China since the Sui dynasty in the 6th century, who showcased them in their gardens. Traditional Chinese medicine attributes numerous properties to its root, making it one of the most commonly used remedies in China. Introduced to Europe at the end of the 18th century, it has become a highly appreciated ornamental plant due to its many cultivars.

Peony cells operate at various levels of the epidermis, both upstream and downstream of the phenomenon of sebum overproduction by the sebaceous glands.
Firstly, they limit the presence of the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase, which is responsible for the activity of testosterone, the hormone primarily involved in sebum production. As a reminder, in sebocytes, testosterone is transformed by the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Following several subsequent biochemical reactions, sebum is produced. Thus, hyperseborrhea is either due to an excessive secretion of androgen or to a high activity of the 5 alpha-reductase.
Furthermore, to prevent the peeling of the skin's surface, peony cells strengthen the water circuit and water retention in the epidermis. Concurrently, they limit the release of interleukin 6 (IL-6), a mediator of inflammation, and substance P, a neuropeptide, which appear during the production of sebum.
