Which hair mask should you choose according to your hair type?
Hair masks for long hair.
Hair masks designed for long hair are treatments rich in active ingredients. They are to be used once or twice a week before or after shampooing. They provide a complementary action to shampoos and conditioners. Indeed, shampoo cleans the hair by removing impurities while providing some benefits (hydration, nutrition...) that remain light and superficial. The conditioner is mainly there to facilitate detangling, even if it can also enhance the benefits of the shampoo. However, these two products are not as active as a hair mask that penetrates the hair fibers more deeply.
The selection of this type of mask is based on the hair type:
Damaged Lengths : UV rays, chlorine, sea water, or even heating devices can sensitize the hair fiber promoting the lifting of the scales at the cuticle level which can no longer play their protective role. Thus, the hair becomes brittle and rough. To repair the hair, it is essential to use hair masks based on repairing, strengthening and softening agents (keratin, vegetable oils...). Our hair repair mask is enriched with biomimetic ceramides that insert themselves into the lipid cement of the hair fiber and restore the cohesion of the cuticle. It also contains avocado oil and mango butter , both of which are very rich in fatty acids.
Curly, frizzy, or kinky hair : generally, these types of hair are coarse and dry to the touch. Therefore, it is necessary to use rich products (vegetable butters, vegetable oils...) to soften the hair and better define the curls. Formulated with mango butter and avocado oil, our repairing hair mask will be ideal for making the hair soft, shiny, and silky.
Colored Hair : This type of hair is highly sensitive as it becomes more porous and less shiny. Over time, the color may lose its vibrancy. Hair masks for colored hair help to preserve the color, increase the shine, and reduce the hair's porosity.
Hair masks for the scalp.
Unlike hair masks intended for the lengths that can be applied before or after shampooing, scalp hair masks are only applied before shampooing, on dirty hair. There are different types of hair masks depending on the condition of the scalp:
Oily Scalp : This type of scalp can be very challenging to manage daily as the hair appears "dirty" and loses volume very quickly. This is due to an overproduction of sebum at the scalp level. The causes can be internal (hormonal imbalances) but also external (heating devices, harsh shampoos...). The application of a hair mask made from purifying and sebum-regulating ingredients (clay, hydrosol, essential oil, Ayurvedic powder) can prove to be of great help.
Note : Dandruff is caused by an overproduction of sebum on the scalp and by the proliferation of the Malassezia fungus. Suitable hair masks composed of purifying and anti-dandruff active ingredients exist. However, in cases of severe dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, we advise you to consult a doctor so that they can prescribe a medicinal treatment.
Irritated Scalp : An irritated scalp can cause varying degrees of itchiness. The use of a hair mask formulated with hydrating and soothing active ingredients (hyaluronic acid, centella asiatica, pro-vitamin B5, niacinamide...) can help to alleviate irritations and itchiness by improving the hydration of the stratum corneum.
