What is the purpose of a deodorant?
Deodorant is a hygiene product applied daily to prevent the onset of unpleasant odors. It is applied under the armpits, areas that often remain moist throughout the day. It's important to note that the skin in this area is sensitive and often damaged due to frequent shaving or waxing. Therefore, it is more porous to products that can then penetrate into the body. It is thus essential to choose a natural deodorant made with ingredients that are respectful of health.
Unlike deodorants, antiperspirants block the flow of sweat. They also prevent bad odors by limiting perspiration and eliminating bacteria. They generally contain aluminum salts, an ingredient that has been suspected to be harmful to health for several years.
Note :In everyday language, the term "deodorant" is used more frequently than "antiperspirant". Thus, we sometimes refer to deodorants with aluminum salts, when in fact, they are antiperspirants.
When should deodorant be applied?
Most people apply their deodorant in the morning after showering. However, some dermatologists suggest that it is better to apply it in the evening, especially during periods of intense heat.
Indeed, sweat glands are generally less active during sleep (except during nightmares or restless dreams). As a result, the deodorant has time to work without its action being limited by sweat. The next morning, it is possible to take a shower, avoiding excessive scrubbing under the armpits if one does not wish to reapply deodorant.
Another benefit of applying your deodorant in the evening before bed is that it prevents white marks on clothing.
