What Is Hemp Oil in Cosmetics?

The hemp seed oil used in cosmetics for its benefits comes from a variety of plant of the species Cannabis Sativa, called "agricultural", "industrial" or "textile" hemp. This variety contains no or extremely little (less than 0.2%) THC, a psychotropic molecule. At Typology, the hemp oil present in the hair and beard fortifying oil comes from the first cold pressing of hemp seeds.

Regarding its biochemical composition, hemp oil contains mostly linoleic acid or omega 6 (45 to 65%) and alpha-linolenic acid or omega 3 (14 to 30%). In cutaneous application, it reinforces the hydrolipidic film, which plays a protective role, in the sense that it maintains the level of hydration of the skin and fights against the external aggressions. Non-comedogenic (index of comedogeneity = 0), it does not block the pores and constitutes also an excellent ally of the mixed skins to fatty, because of its action sebo-regulating.
