How To Remove Blackheads From Nose and Chin.

How To Remove Blackheads From Nose and Chin.

Blackheads, or comedones, are a recurring problem generally located on the nose and chin. Although it is not serious, this imperfection is not very aesthetic and diminishes the clearness of the skin on the face. What are the solutions to remove blackheads from nose and chin?

Understand What Blackheads Are.

Blackheads, also known as “open comedones”, are not only an issue for combination to oily skin. Often, these small dark accumulations that appear in the pores of the face and affect the skin's appearance are the first sign of acne.

Comedones are caused by the overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands attached to the hair follicle. This excess sebum mixes with dead cells and other impurities on the face. They settle in the dilated pores and, in contact with the air, they oxidize and turn black.

Sebum is not harmful in itself: it is part of the hydrolipidic film that protects the skin from external aggressions and dehydration. However, the production of sebum can be regulated by different mechanisms: hormonal disorders, poor skin hygiene, the use of comedogenic skin care products, or the use of certain medications can cause excessive sebum secretion. This sebum can then clog the pores and thicken the skin. This is typically how various skin issues such as blackheads, pimples, etc. appear.

Use the Right Skin Care Products.

In order to have smooth skin without blackheads on nose, chin or other areas, you must start by establishing a skin care routine adapted to your skin type. This will regulate sebum production and helps you get rid of dead cells and impurities, thus preventing the appearance of blackheads.

The use of overly aggressive and comedogenic products should be avoided in favor of natural, gentle and alcohol-free products. Products that purify, exfoliate, moisturize and rebalance the skin are to be preferred. Cleansing and exfoliation are the keywords to get rid of blackheads. We can then turn to:

  • A gentle cleanser like the purifying cleansing bar with nettle which cleans the skin effectively and gently. The active ingredients it contains will regulate sebum production and rebalance the skin;

  • An exfoliant like the peeling mask with red fruit acids which constitutes a mass ally against blackheads. It will eliminate dead surface cells, unclog pores and stimulate skin regeneration;

  • The purifying mask with charcoal and nettle that regulates the production of sebum, dries out imperfections and cleanses your skin. Masks are among the recommended solutions for blackheads. They dislodge comedones by adhering to their surface, making them easy to remove. They work like patches and provide for gentle removal.

Do Not Confuse Blackheads With Sebaceous Filaments.

Blackheads and sebaceous filaments are often confused. In fact, the small dark spots seen on the nose or on the chin are not necessarily comedones, even though they may look the same. Unlike a comedo, a sebaceous filament is a natural structure that helps sebum reach the skin surface. Although they are present in everyone, sebaceous filaments are more visible on oily skin or skin with large pores.

To distinguish them, sebaceous filaments are quite light, even grayish, whereas blackheads are darker. In addition, when a sebaceous filament is squeezed (which should be avoided), you will see a thin white trail of sebum coming out, while blackheads have the appearance of a plug (a black tip with a white body). Similarly, a comedo is found on the surface of the skin, while the sebaceous filament is found deeper.
