How to use salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid in facial care.
Due to its numerous benefits for the skin, salicylic acid is present in many dermocosmetic treatments. Its exfoliating action removes dead cells that accumulate on the surface of the epidermis, thus preventing the pore obstruction that leads to blackheads and comedones. Antimicrobial, it also fights against the colonization and proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes, the main bacteria involved in acne. It stimulates cell regeneration , thus brightening dull and tired complexions. Wrinkles are diminished and the skin is unified.
Even though this acid is generally well tolerated by the epidermis, it is always recommended to perform a skin tolerance test before any use. To do this, apply the product containing this active ingredient to the crook of your arm or the underside of your wrist. Wait 24 hours to ensure that you do not develop any allergy (redness, irritation, etc...).
According to European regulations concerning cosmetic products, a facial care product cannot exceed a salicylic acid content of 2%. As it can increase sensitivity to sunlight, it is recommended to apply this active ingredient only in the evening. Depending on its concentration in a cosmetic product, salicylic acid can be used in a treatment over a limited period of time or daily in a beauty routine.
Concentrated at 1% in salicylic acid, the purifying tonert can be used every evening before bed on dry and previously cleansed face and neck, to boost cell renewal and smooth the skin texture. Soak a cotton pad and perform mini-tapping from the inside out to stimulate the skin without irritating it. Do not rinse and let dry for a few seconds. You can then apply your usual night cream or your vegetable oil routine.
The localized imperfection serum is more concentrated in salicylic acid (2%) than the toner; it is used more as a treatment, over a limited period of time, for a few weeks. With clean hands, take a drop of serum with the dropper and apply it locally, directly on an imperfection to treat. Let it dry for a few seconds then apply your night cream or your usual vegetable oil. Generally, the first results are visible after three days of use.
Salicylic acid in hair care.
Thanks to its keratolytic action, salicylic acid reduces the scales present on the scalp, and effectively treats dandruff. It gives hair shine and radiance, and makes it easier to style.
The European regulation allows a slightly higher incorporation rate than that defined in facial care. Indeed, a shampoo can contain up to 3% salicylic acid.
To effectively eliminate dandruff, apply a salicylic acid-based shampoo to your previously wet scalp. Lather well by massaging your hair and then let it sit for 3 minutes. Afterwards, thoroughly rinse your hair with clear water.
