Nourishing your dry lips with a tinted oil?

Constantly exposed to the sun, wind, cold, and pollution, lips can be prone to chapping, dryness, and various types of irritation. A tinted oil is a hybrid formula, straddling makeup and skincare, that helps combat dry lips.

What are the factors that promote dry lips?

The skin of the lips is very thin and permeable compared to that of the rest of the face. They do not have sebaceous or sweat glands to create a protective hydrolipidic film like the rest of the body. Consequently, the lips are put to a harsh test when they are exposed to cold, wind, UV rays, rain, and pollution. In addition to these external aggression factors, damaged, chapped, dry, or cracked lips are promoted by harmful lifestyle habits. These can include an unbalanced diet, excessive consumption of tobacco or alcohol, dehydration and/or stress. Lip dryness can also be caused by constant moistening of the lips with saliva, consumption of spicy food, or mouth breathing.

What are the benefits of a tinted oil on dry lips?

The tinted oil is a hybrid treatment that both nourishes dry lips and perfects lip makeup. Therefore, it is multifunctional: it provides the comfort of a balm, the shiny finish of a gloss and the pigmentation of a lipstick (although this is still somewhat more moderate).

The properties of a tinted oil vary depending on the ingredients that make it up. Typically, one or more vegetable oils, one or more waxes to provide consistency, as well as active ingredients and preservatives in smaller quantities are found. The active molecules can function to plump the lips, provide a warming effect to the treatment, or even smooth the fine lines around the lips. But it is usually the vegetable oils that nourish the lips. Indeed, the fatty acids they contain are ideal for nourishing the lips and providing "good fats", reducing unpleasant sensations of tightness. Among these, the most common in a lip oil are jojoba oil (INCI name: "Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil"), hazelnut (INCI name: "Corylus Avellana Seed Oil"), sunflower (INCI name: "Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Wax"), or even that of plum (INCI name: "Prunus Domestica Seed Oil").

Our tinted lip oil is composed of plum oil which nourishes and imparts a light sweet scent to the formula. It also contains jojoba oil which creates a protective film on the surface of the lips to retain moisture. Vegetable squalane derived from olives is used to combat lip dryness and vitamin E to protect them from external aggressions are also among the ingredients of this lip oil.

Furthermore, this treatment is formulated without mineral oils, without beeswax, and without pigments in the form of nanoparticles. It is suitable for both normal lips and dry to very dry lips. Additionally, this lip oil comes in several shades, including ruby red, coral orange, plum purple, and even a colorless version.
