Should I Wash My Face in the Morning and at Night?

To have a healthy and radiant skin, washing your face daily is an essential step of any beauty routine. But how often should you do it? Should you do it morning and night? We tell you everything.

How Often Should You Wash Your Face?

We recommend that you wash your face twice a day. Doing this more than twice a day would be excessive and could lead to a pH imbalance. A deep cleansing of the skin in the evening is an essential step in order to remove the impurities accumulated during the day (pollution particles, dust, allergens, bacteria, sebum, tobacco, sweat, cosmetic products, make-up, etc.). The morning cleanse removes traces of sweat, excess sebum and dead cells. Indeed, during the night, the cells renew themselves, the skin rebuilds itself and takes advantage to renew its hydrolipidic film. The difference is that the skin does not need a deep cleaning as in the evening because it damages the hydrolipidic film which can cause dehydration, skin dryness and other skin problems. It also deprives the skin of a natural protective barrier against external aggressions during the day.

How To Clean Your Face?

  • The morning:

In the morning, the use of a soft tonic lotion without alcohol is enough to eliminate the traces of sweat and possibly the excess of sebum which would have accumulated during the night. To do this, soak a reusable cotton ball with the toner adapted to your skin type and then pass it over the entire face without rubbing and avoiding the eye area. However, if you've been working out, we recommend washing your face with a gentle cleanser.

  • The evening:

In the evening, the skin needs to have a deep cleansing so that it is able to regenerate better during sleep and is more receptive to the care used afterwards. Therefore, perform a double cleansing: start with a gentle makeup remover with a lipophilic texture to free the skin of all greasy residues (makeup, sunscreen, sebum, etc.) and complete this step using a gentle facial cleanser with a hydrophilic texture that is sulfate-free, soap-free and with a pH similar to that of the skin (around 5), to eliminate all dry impurities lodged deep down (sweat, dust, pollutants, etc.).

A little extra: To complete the make-up removal and skin cleansing steps, we recommend using a tonic lotion to rebalance the skin's pH. Indeed, the limestone present in the rinsing water can deregulate the pH of the skin, leading to the formation of a more favorable ground for imperfections and bacterial proliferation.
