How often should one cleanse their face?

We recommend washing your face twice a day. Performing this action more than twice a day could be excessive and could lead to a disruption of the pH balance. Deeply cleansing your skin in the evening is a crucial step to rid the epidermis of impurities accumulated throughout the day (pollution particles, dust, allergens, bacteria, sebum, tobacco, sweat, cosmetics, makeup, etc...). Morning cleansing helps to eliminate traces of sweat, excess sebum, and dead cells. Indeed, during the night, cells regenerate, the skin rebuilds itself and takes the opportunity to renew its hydrolipidic film. The difference is that the skin does not require a deep cleansing like in the evening, as this could damage the hydrolipidic film, potentially leading to dehydration, dry skin, and other skin problems. It also deprives the skin of a natural protective barrier against external aggressions during the day.

How to cleanse your face?

  • In the morning:

In the morning, the use of a gentle toning lotion without alcohol is sufficient to eliminate traces of sweat and potentially excess sebum that may have accumulated overnight. To do this, soak a reusable cotton pad with the toner suitable for your skin type and then pass it over the entire face without rubbing and avoiding the eye contour. However, if you have had a workout session, we recommend washing your face with a gentle cleanser.

  • In the evening:

In the evening, the skin requires a thorough cleansing to enable it to regenerate more effectively during sleep and to be more receptive to subsequent treatments. Therefore, perform a double cleanse: start with a gentle makeup remover with a lipophilic texture to free the skin from all oily residues (makeup, sunscreen, sebum, etc...) and complete this step with a gentle face cleanser suited to a hydrophilic texture without sulfates, without soap, and with a pH similar to that of the skin (around 5), to eliminate all deeply lodged dry impurities (sweat, dust, pollutants, etc...). Extra tip : To complement the makeup removal and skin cleansing steps, we recommend using a toning lotion to rebalance the skin's pH. Indeed, the limestone present in the rinse water can disrupt the skin's pH, leading to a more conducive environment for imperfections and bacterial proliferations.
