The essence of plum oil in a nutshell.
The oil of the plum, known by its I.N.C.I. name, " Prunus Domestica Seed Oil", is derived from cold pressing the kernels of Ente plums. This variety of plum is cultivated for the production of Agen prunes. Organoleptically, it is a clear, oily liquid ranging in color from straw yellow to amber with green reflections, and it has a sweet scent reminiscent of bitter almond or frangipane. Its main components are fatty acids (60 to 80% omega 9, 15 to 25% omega 6, and 4 to 9% palmitic acid) as well as tocopherol (vitamin E). This composition makes plum oil a hydrating and nourishing ingredient, sought after for skin and hair care. It quickly penetrates the epidermis, acting without leaving a greasy finish on the surface.

Due to its content of essential fatty acids, this vegetable oil revitalizes dehydrated and dry hair, providing it with shine. By penetrating the hair fibers, fatty acids are able to limit the evaporation of water. They form a protective film to maintain hair hydration. Moreover, the oleic acid or omega 9, which is present in large quantities in plum oil, is a lipid that is part of the composition of sebum, a substance naturally secreted by the body to counteract skin and hair dryness. To avoid having dull and brittle hair, sufficient sebum production is necessary. Oleic acid thus stimulates the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands and fights against hair dryness that leads to their breakage.
To enjoy its benefits, simply incorporate a few drops of this oil into your regular shampoo. However, some hair care products are already enriched with plum oil, such as masks, conditioners, or even oils.
Plum oil for hair protection and prevention of aging.
Hair aging is characterized by the emergence of gray and white hairs, as well as the weakening of hair fibers, which promotes hair loss. While this is a natural phenomenon, it can be significantly accelerated by oxidation reactions due to pollution, exposure to UV rays, smoking, etc. Rich in vitamin E, known for its antioxidant power, plum oil protects the hair from free radicals and oxidative stress. Tocopherol neutralizes free radicals to prevent them from causing damage and maintain good hair quality for as long as possible.
