Prune Oil: The Contraindications.

Derived from the cold pressing of the kernels of Ente plums, this oil has numerous virtues when applied topically.Rich in sterols and vitamin E, it exerts a powerful antioxidant action and firms mature skin. Moreover, its omega-9 content (about 70%) gives it excellent moisturizing properties. This vegetable oil does not contain allergens and can be safely used by pregnant and/or breastfeeding women as well as young children. There are only two elements to consider:

  • She is contraindicated for people allergic to plums.

  • This is not a tanning oil. It does not replace sun protection. However, you can still apply it before exposing yourself to protect the skin from free radicals massively generated by UV rays. Then consider applying a sunscreen with an SPF suitable for your skin type.

In all instances, if you have reactive and sensitive skin, it is recommended to perform a skin test beforehand. To do this, apply a small amount of pure (undiluted) plum vegetable oil on your wrist or in the crook of your arm. If there is an adverse reaction within the following 24 hours, do not use this product.

Plum Oil: What precautions should be taken?

To fully benefit from the virtues of this vegetable oil, it is crucial to pay attention to certain points.

  • Yourplum oilshould be extracted from the kernels of plums through a cold pressing process. Be careful not to confuse plum oil obtained by this process with its oil macerate derived from the maceration of the kernels in vegetable oil (usually, sunflower oil). The macerate is indeed less expensive than pure oil but its benefits for the skin and hair are lesser.

  • Even though it is relatively resistant to oxidation due to its vitamin E content, it still needs to be stored in a sealed amber glass container, protected from air, light, and heat.

  • Mandatory information must be indicated on the bottle's label (batch number, INCI list, period after opening, etc.). For your information, its I.N.C.I. name is "Prunus Domestica Seed Oil".

Furthermore, remember to check the texture of your plum oil. It should be light and fairly dry, absorb quickly, and not leave a greasy film on your skin.
