Masque visage : avant ou après la douche ?

The Facial Mask: Before or After the Shower?

The facial mask is an essential treatment for hydrating, purifying, or even enhancing the skin's radiance. However, to reap its benefits, certain rules must be adhered to, particularly regarding the timing of application.

How to apply a facial mask?

No matter the type of mask used, there are a few key steps to follow for proper application.

  1. Before applying the mask, ensure that your skin is thoroughly clean. To do this, cleanse your face with a gentle cleansing product suitable for your skin type;

  2. Gently wipe your face with a towel by patting it clean;

  3. scrub for enhanced skincare action;

  4. Using a soft-bristled brush or your fingers, spread the mask in a semi-thick and even layer across your entire face, while avoiding the eye and lip areas. Don't forget to include your neck in the process;

  5. Leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the manufacturer's instructions, before rinsing it off with warm water. You can also use a soft cloth to facilitate removal;

    Note : There are masks that are designed to be left on all night, such as our firming face mask.

  6. Once the time limit has been reached, some masks also require that you gently massage your skin in circular motions for an exfoliating effect. These include, for example, the peeling mask enriched with fruit acids;

  7. Then apply your usual treatments: face serum, night serum, moisturizing cream, etc.

Before or after the shower: when is the best time to apply your mask?

By definition, showering is the time when you rid your skin of impurities that have accumulated on its surface throughout the day. However, a facial mask should always be applied to perfectly clean and makeup-free skin. We therefore advise you to take your shower and then apply your facial mask, as your skin will be cleansed. Moreover, after the shower, your skin is more receptive to deeply absorb the active ingredients provided by the mask.
