What is a tinted lip balm?

Tinted lip balm is a hybrid of lip care and makeup. It’s the perfect product for adding subtle color to your lips and nourishing them at the same time. As a balm, it will hydrate, repair, protect and soften your lips. It’s packed with natural active ingredients designed to moisturize and nourish your lips, like hyaluronic acid, cocoa butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil. It also contains soothing ingredients like bisabolol, calendula oil and peppermint macerate.

Your lips are one of the most delicate parts of your face, and are exposed to external irritants (the wind, the cold, UV rays, etc…) on a daily basis. Plus, the skin of your lips has hardly any sebaceous glands, so doesn’t secrete much sebum. That’s why it’s important to protect and hydrate them every day, using a product designed for that purpose. As well as protecting and nourishing your lips, our 2-in-1 product adds a subtle, natural hit of colour. In terms of pigmentation, a tinted lip balm doesn’t have the same strength of colour as a classic lipstick, but has many other advantages.

How to choose a tinted lip balm.

Tinted lip balms are both makeup and lip care. To choose the right one for you, it’s important to check their ingredients lists. Knowing that the product will be in direct contact with your lips and so very close to your mouth, it’s best to choose a lip care product made with natural ingredients, and above all which doesn’t contain controversial ingredients like silicones, synthetic hydrocarbons, mineral oils or chemical preservatives (BHA, BHT, etc…), that can be harmful if ingested in large quantities.

At Typology, we’ve designed our tinted lip balms to combine the hydrating properties of a classic lip balm with the color of a lipstick. They’re available in 5 shades, are made of 99% natural ingredients, and are packed with active ingredients like hyaluronic acid from wheat fermentation, peppermint macerate, and raspberry seed oil. These help to protect and deeply nourish your lips, all whilst subtly enhancing them with natural pigments.

How to apply your tinted lip balm

A tinted lip balm can replace your lipstick, which may contain nasties (heavy metals, chemical preservatives, ingredients derived from petrochemicals, etc…). Put a small amount of tinted lip balm, around the size of a grain of rice, on the end of your finger, then apply it by gently pressing it across your lips. You can apply it as many times as you need, especially if your lips are already dry or damaged. A tinted lip balm is ideal if you like a natural makeup look. Our tinted lip balm can also be used as a blush and applied to your cheeks.
