What is "Rosa Centifolia Flower Water" and what is its use?

The "Rosa Centifolia Flower Water" is the I.N.C.I name used to refer to thecentifolia rose hydrosol. This floral water is known for its unique, sweet, and gentle fragrance. Rich in tannins, it is also credited with an astringent action, tightening dilated pores and thus contributing to refining the skin texture.

The Centifolia rose, a hybrid plant of unknown origin.

The hundred-petaled rose belongs to the Rosaceae family; its name refers to the large number of petals on the flower. It resembles a uniform, flexible bush that can reach up to 2 meters in height. This plant blooms from the month of May and the harvest takes place in the morning, at dawn. Its flowers are pink, red-purple, or white, composed of numerous thin petals. Its geographical origin remains unclear; today, it primarily grows in Bulgaria, France (Grasse), and North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia).

From the flowers of this rose bush, steam distillation allows for the extraction of two distinct fractions, the essential oil and the hydrosol, both of which are used for cosmetic applications among others. The centifolia rose hydrosol presents itself as a clear, colorless liquid with a floral, subtle scent, with sweet notes.
