Reminders about ferulic acid and its skin benefits.

Derived from rice bran, ferulic acid is an organic acid with excellent antioxidant properties. It effectively neutralizes free radicals, molecules that accelerate skin aging and are generally produced in large quantities when the body is exposed to stressors such as pollution, smoking, poor diet, etc. Thus, ferulic acid makes the skin brighter, firmer, and smoother. It prevents the appearance of signs of aging such as wrinkles and/or pigmentation spots.

In a cosmetic formula, it is typically introduced at a percentage ranging between 1.5 and 3%. It is most commonly found in serums but can also be present in lotions and facial creams.

When is the best time of day to use ferulic acid?

Ferulic acid is not a substance that causes photosensitivity : it does not lead to an increased sensitivity of the skin to the UV radiation from the sun.

Thus, you can use a ferulic acid treatment both in the morning and in the evening. If you choose to use ferulic acid in the morning, don't forget to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen before going outside.

How often should ferulic acid be used?

A ferulic acid treatment is typically used once or twice a day, preferably in the evening. Those with more sensitive skin may experience slight irritation or redness following the application of a product containing this active ingredient. In such cases, it is recommended to space out its use over several days and alternate it with other active ingredients for skin radiance, such as vitamin C.

For how long should ferulic acid be used?

You can incorporate this active ingredient into your evening beauty routine, daily. There is no maximum treatment duration to adhere to, as this antioxidant is gentle and generally very well tolerated by all skin types.
