Why should you double cleanse?

Why should you double cleanse?

Double cleansing is a method that involves washing your face twice daily: first with an oil-based makeup remover followed by a water-based cleanser. Discover the reasons to incorporate it into your routine.

1. An effective technique for deep skin cleansing.

Dual cleansing effectively removes all impurities accumulated on the skin throughout the day, thereby preventing pore congestion, skin eruptions, and a dull complexion. The skin is then deeply purified and the pores are unclogged, thus limiting the appearance of blemishes and helping to control excess shine.

Furthermore, this practice allows the skin to regenerate more effectively at night. Cellular renewal, strengthening of the epidermis, activation of blood microcirculation... the skin indeed implements all these mechanisms during our sleep to have a radiant complexion upon waking, confront the multiple aggressions of the day, and delay skin aging.

2. A washing method that respects the epidermis.

The double cleansing method allows for a gentle washing of the skin without causing irritation, which can lead to numerous skin issues (excessive sebum production, tightness, blemishes, inflammation, etc...). Indeed, by stripping the skin's hydrolipidic film, it can take several hours to reform, leaving the skin vulnerable.

Indeed, double cleansing helps to strengthen and preserve the natural skin barrier by eliminating impurities that weaken the skin. The products used are non-abrasive and have a pH close to that of the skin. Moreover, removing makeup with fingers is ideal for sensitive skin, as the use of cotton, even washable, can cause sensations of irritation and tightness.

3. A specific targeting of skin needs from the first step.

The choice between an oily makeup remover and a water-based cleanser depends on your skin's needs and both contain active ingredients that effectively work on the skin. At Typology, we offer the following products:

  • The cleansing balm and the cleansing oil have the advantage of enveloping the skin in a non-greasy protective layer, thus avoiding tightness and feelings of discomfort after rinsing with water, a feature highly appreciated by dry and sensitive skin types. Moreover, by mimicking the skin's sebum, oil-based cleansers encourage the skin to produce less sebum, making it a good option for combination to oily skin types;

  • The exfoliating cleanser with a gel-like texture allows for deep pore unclogging, reduction in the appearance of blemishes, and reveals a radiant and even complexion. Composed among other things of PHA, it thus offers a gentle micro-exfoliation daily. This facial cleanser also contains aloe vera, an ingredient packed with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, to soothe and repair the skin. Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin, it is particularly recommended for dull or blemish-prone skin (blackheads, enlarged pores, etc...).

  • The purifying gel cleanser helps to sanitize the skin, regulate sebum production, and limit the development of imperfections thanks to the purifying active ingredients it contains (zinc PCA, bamboo extract, and eucalyptus globulus essential oil), without drying out the skin. It is recommended for combination to oily skin types.

4. Improved absorption of other skin care treatments.

Another advantage of double cleansing is that the active ingredients in the products, tailored to skin issues, are better absorbed to achieve optimal results, regardless of your skin type. Indeed, a well-cleansed skin facilitates the penetration and action of the treatments that will be used afterwards (toning lotions, hydrosols, face serums, etc...).

5. An ecological and economical approach.

Given that cotton cultivation is polluting and requires a large amount of water, this method allows for the avoidance of cotton use through an oil-based makeup remover and a gel-textured cleanser that are applied with the fingers. Thus, double cleansing serves as a means to reduce one's waste production.
