How often should the tinted balm be used?

Cracked, tight, chapped, damaged... our lips are often exposed to external aggressions and can easily become dry. Sensitive and delicate, it is necessary to regularly apply a lip balm to protect, hydrate, and maintain their plump appearance. However, since this treatment is colorless, women tend to lean towards lipstick. Yet, this product does not protect the lips and can even further dehydrate them. A range of tinted lip balms has been developed at Typology to combine nourishment and beautification. But how often should it be applied?

What you need to know about tinted balms.

Colorless, moisturizing lip balms may not seem appealing and are not universally loved, yet they are allies for dry and damaged lips. They are often overlooked in favor of lipsticks, which do not have any nourishing or protective function, and can even further dehydrate the lips. However, an alternative exists: the tinted lip balm. This 2-in-1 treatment allows to color the lips, while protecting, hydrating, and nourishing them. This product straddles the line between skincare and makeup, perfectly combining the properties of lip balm with its repairing and nourishing ingredients, and those of lipstick with the presence of pigments.

It thus allows for effective daily hydration and protection of the lips, while delicately enhancing their beauty.

To select the appropriate tinted balm, it is advisable to choose a product free of fragrances, paraffin, synthetic hydrocarbons, silicones , and essential oils. Instead, it should contain natural nourishing agents with nourishing, repairing, hydrating, and protective properties, such as vegetable oils or butters (jojoba oil, shea butter, raspberry seed oil, castor oil, meadowsweet oil, etc...). It can also contain hydrating active ingredients (glycerin, hyaluronic acid, etc...) and soothing agents (calendula, bisabolol, thermal water, etc...).

Tinted Balm: How Often Should It Be Used?

Unlike some treatments that have limited use, the tinted balm can be used several times a day at the same rate as a traditional lipstick, but three times is more than enough. Indeed, you can easily incorporate the tinted lip balm into your daily beauty routine as a replacement for your lipstick. However, it should be applied at least once a day, for instance, right after brushing your teeth in the morning. The formula of the toothpaste can dry out the skin of the lips. Similarly, in case of tightness, dry lips, or even chapping, reapply as often as necessary throughout the day.
