CBD-based cosmetic products

Ever since it stopped being considered a drug, CBD has been part of a rapidly growing market. It meets all consumer criteria: CBD comes from hemp, it is not harmful to human health, it has no psychoactive properties, and its effects have been proven by numerous studies. Today, CBD is used in the creation of many cosmetic products. Let's see which ones in this article.

Why is cannabidiol appreciated in cosmetology?

The cannabidiol (CBD) is an active substance that is part of the hundred cannabinoids found in hemp. Unlike delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is considered to be the cause of cannabis intoxication, CBD does not have any psychotropic effects, thus allowing it to be used in cosmetics. Numerous anecdotal results testify to the effects of CBD, which, in some cases, have been supported by research findings. Antioxidant, anti-sebum, soothing, or anti-inflammatory properties have been attributed to it, in addition to having therapeutic virtues.

The various treatments containing CBD in their formulation.

Since 2019, the CBD segment has been rapidly expanding in general, but this is also the case in the cosmetic industry. It has become a burgeoning natural ingredient, incorporated into the design of several skincare ranges due to its numerous properties. Indeed, studies have revealed its effectiveness in addressing certain issues, although it can be suitable for all skin and hair types.

  • Anti-blemish care : The sebostatic and anti-inflammatory action of CBD has made it an ideal ingredient for improving the appearance of blemish-prone skin. Lotion, serum, cleanser, cream... it has interesting uses for reducing various imperfections (pimples, blackheads, etc.), but also for preventing their occurrence.

  • Hair Care: Just like the skin, the scalp is daily assaulted by various factors (stress, seasonal changes, unbalanced diet, unsuitable care, etc.) The CBD is also found in hair care products with its anti-inflammatory and soothing functions, and can be contained in shampoos or hair oils. With daily application, it can help to calm the inflammation of irritated scalps or "purify" oily scalps with its sebum-regulating properties in order to restore the skin's natural functions.

  • Sensitive Skin Care: CBD molecules also possess anti-inflammatory properties, a boon for weakened and reactive skin. It is effective in calming irritations and reducing all types of redness. Indeed, sensitive skin, being more fragile, triggers an inflammatory reaction upon contact with an allergen, causing the appearance of redness.

  • Pain Relief Care: Equipped with an analgesic action, CBD in the form of a balm, cream, or oil can be used in topical massages to alleviate certain types of acute or chronic inflammatory pain (joint pain, muscle soreness, back pain, neck pain, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.), relieve tension, relax muscles, and calm the nervous system through its targeted application on the affected area. Specifically, CBD will block the nociceptive perceptions generated.

Typology skincare products based on CBD.

Given their numerous benefits for the skin, we offer a range of two cosmetic products with CBD (INCI: Cannabidiol) that are 100% natural, formulated without fragrance and essential oils, made in France, and certified COSMOS Natural.

Soothing Night Serum.

  • Type of CBD: CBD crystals or isolate, the pure molecular form (without THC).

  • Dosage: 650 mg of CBD (5%).

  • Skin Type: All skin types, particularly sensitive, weakened, and redness-prone skin.

  • How to use: In the evening, on clean and dry skin, apply a few drops of the night oil serum all over the face and neck using circular motions.

With its dry oil texture, CBD is present in large quantities (5%) in our botanical blend for topical application. It also contains a fatty base of five plant extracts rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins: namely sesame oil (INCI: Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil), hemp oil (INCI: Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil), black cumin oil (INCI: Nigella Sativa Seed Oil), green tea extract (INCI: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract), and calendula oil macerate (INCI: Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract). When applied locally, this CBD night oil reduces the inflammation that causes various types of redness and helps stimulate skin regeneration, while maintaining optimal hydration levels. The skin then regains comfort, soothing, and softness the next day.

Soothing ointment-mask.

Our mask provides the skin with a unique care ritual. It is specifically formulated to soothe skin discomfort, while strengthening the epidermal barrier to protect it from external aggressions and irritants. Indeed, through its hydrating and soothing actions, its flexible and enveloping oil-in-gel texture seals the skin's hydration, providing an immediate comforting and refreshing effect. This mask is notably composed of CBD derived from hemp leaves, bisabolol of natural origin known for its anti-inflammatory properties, olive squalane for its lipid-replenishing aspect, and a blend of vegetable oils, namely hemp seed oil and vanilla oily macerate (INCI: Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract) rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins. The skin is durably hydrated and soothed, regaining softness and suppleness.
