Is retinol reserved for mature skin?
The retinol is a form of Vitamin A widely known for its numerous benefits on its ability to reduce the appearance of established signs of aging: acceleration of the epidermal cell renewal rate, ability to diminish the depth of wrinkles by stimulating the biosynthesis of collagen and elastin, and improvement of skin uniformity with the reduction of age spots. Therefore, it is often recommended for taking care of mature skin with already present signs of skin aging (wrinkles, skin sagging, solar lentigines...).
Yet, even before the first wrinkles appear, it is strongly recommended to start taking care of your skin by gradually incorporating retinol into your skincare routine as a preventive measure, starting as early as 25 years old. This is the period when cellular degeneration and the decrease in the synthesis of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin begin. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, retinol will help "young" skin combat the formation of free radicals and also neutralize those already present. These species are responsible for the premature aging of the skin.
