Saggy Skin

Definition: Skin laxity is due to a loss of elasticity linked to age. It is the consequence of a loss of tissue volume. This phenomenon is due to the alteration and rarefaction of collagen and elastin fibers, to the decrease and loss of hyaluronic acid, and to the failure of blood circulation. The areas most affected by sagging skin are the face, neck, arms, lower abdomen, breasts, buttocks and inner thighs.
Internal and external causes: Skin aging, weight loss, sun exposure, smoking, hormonal variations.
How to reduce or eliminate: Use dermo-cosmetic treatments containing active ingredients capable of boosting collagen production or plumping up the skin, such as retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, bakuchiol, peptides, rose hip oil or prickly pear oil with firming properties; aesthetic medicine (laser, radiofrequency, tensor threads, hyaluronic acid injections, carboxytherapy); cosmetic surgery (facelift).
Preventative steps to take: Moisturize your skin daily; protect yourself from the sun's rays by applying sunscreen; avoid smoking; practice regular physical activity to tone your skin.
