Shower Gel: How Much Should You Apply?

The shower gel is a product formulated in liquid gel form dedicated to body hygiene. It is used daily to clean the body of all the impurities accumulated by the skin. Generally, it is composed mainly of water, but also of surfactants, active ingredients and additives (humectants, preservatives, texture agents, pH adjusters, etc. ...). In addition, shower gel can be found in different forms:

• Exfoliating shower gels: This shower product has both washing and scrubbing properties. Therefore, its use is beneficial for the skin: the skin is softer and more radiant, it gains in tone and firmness, the regrowth of hair is facilitated and the appearance of ingrown hairs is limited. However, because of the exfoliating micro-beads or fruit acids such as glycolic acid present in the product, it is not recommended to use it on dry, reactive skin or skin prone to irritation. On the other hand, for all the other types of skins (normal, mixed with fatty, mature), there are no contra-indications.

• The surgras shower gels: This soft washing care is enriched in surgras agents (vegetable oils, vegetable butters or glycerin). Thanks to its very rich formula and its neutral (7) or physiological pH value, i.e. equal to that of the epidermis (5.5), the cutaneous hydrolipidic film is restored, cutaneous dryness is reduced, hydration is preserved, the epidermis is nourished in depth and the skin is protected against external aggressions Thus, this type of shower gel is ideal for sensitive skins and with atopic tendency. It is also suitable for all the other types of skin without exception (normal, mixed, fatty, mature and even for young skin).

• The lipid-replenishing shower oils: Highly dosed in oily substances, these washing oils help to hydrate the skin, to restore the cutaneous barrier, to comfort the skin and to alleviate the tightening without attacking it. These shower products are perfect for dry, discomforting and moisture-deprived skin. Even if they foam less than a traditional shower gel, the greasy substances present in the formulation eliminate all the impurities effectively. The skin is thus wrapped in a nourishing and protective veil.

The shower cream gels (or shower milk): Particularly formulated for dry skin, the cream shower gel with its rich and creamy texture is perfect for nourishing the skin, ensuring optimal hydration, compensating for the drying effects of hard water and avoiding feelings of tightness or itching after the shower.

There is no need to apply a large amount of shower gel to effectively wash your body. The equivalent of one nut is enough. This is not only economical but also avoids saturating the skin with cleansing products. To apply your shower gel, you can use a washcloth, a shower flower or a sponge. At the end of your bath or shower, rinse thoroughly to avoid leaving traces of shower gel on certain areas of your body. Poorly rinsed skin can cause irritation and dryness. Then, wipe yourself, without scrubbing too hard, but by gently patting your skin, using a soft and dry towel, to avoid irritating it and to reduce the dehydration of the skin.

Note: Water, which evaporates quickly after a bath or shower, tends to dry out the skin. Complete your routine by applying a body cream.
