Tips and Tricks for a Perfect Shave

Who doesn't dream of smooth skin, free of redness or bumps after a shaving session, whether it's on the face, legs, underarms, or bikini area? Rest assured, it's possible, but only if certain rules are followed. Follow our advice!

Topics:

Always shave on clean skin.

This fundamental rule is sometimes overlooked. However, it is crucial to reduce the risks of irritation as well as the development of ingrown hairs.

For the face, you can use, for example, our rebalancing cleansing care with nettle or if you prefer a gel texture, the purifying cleansing gel. Concentrated with purifying active ingredients such as zinc PCA, this cleansing gel sanitizes the skin, regulates sebum production, and limits the development of imperfections.

Regarding body areas, the anti-imperfection shower gel Glycolic Acid 6% + Tea Tree Extract is ideal before a shaving session as it is concentrated with exfoliating and purifying actives that will unclog pores and fight against the appearance of ingrown hairs. However, more sensitive skins will prefer the shower oil for lipid-replenishment which contains vitamins (E+F) and bitter almond extract. As an antioxidant, this treatment restores suppleness to the epidermis and reduces feelings of tightness while delicately scenting the skin with a light almond fragrance.

Never shave dry or with water alone.

Shaving with water alone increases the risk of irritation and cuts. Always use a shaving foam or gel when you shave. This product will create a protective barrier between the razor blade and your skin: it thus reduces friction and therefore the risk of cuts. Moreover, the presence of foam helps you determine the areas you have already shaved. This way, you avoid going over the same area multiple times, thereby preventing skin irritation.

Shaving: In which direction?

Regarding the beard, it is advised to shave in the direction of hair growth to avoid cuts. Shaving against the direction of hair growth is recommended for the legs, underarms, and bikini area. The shave will be closer and this will prevent you from having to go over the same area multiple times.

Remember, in all instances, if you are prone to ingrown hairs, always remove hair in the direction of hair growth !

Exfoliate your skin at least once a week.

We can't stress this enough! Exfoliation is crucial as it stimulates cellular renewal and removes accumulated keratinocytes on the skin's surface, preventing pore blockage. This process makes it easier for hairs to penetrate the stratum corneum and prevents them from curling under the skin. Additionally, exfoliation helps to expose sub-surface hairs, allowing for a closer shave. For the face, you can use the radiance scrub with rosehip oil and organic carrot macerate. For body areas, we have developed a nourishing scrub as well as a toning scrub based on organic green coffee macerate (draining) and organic lemongrass and cedar essential oils (anti-cellulite).

Maintaining one's shaving equipment.

A poorly maintained blade is the cause of many inconveniences. Your shaving session will not proceed as it should. Normally, a single pass is enough to shave the hairs in each area. However, with a blade already saturated with hairs and impurities, several passes will be necessary. Also, avoid using a rusty or damaged blade so as not to unnecessarily harm the skin.

Pro tip! Don't leave your razor in a damp place as bacteria will multiply much faster on the surface of the blades. After each shave, it is recommended to rinse your razor, dry it, and keep it away from moisture.

Applying a moisturizing treatment after shaving

To restore the hydrolipidic film, it is imperative to apply a moisturizing and/or nourishing care. Indeed, shaving has weakened the protective skin barrier. Moreover, with the stratum corneum being thinner, it's the ideal time to provide the skin with active ingredients and nutrients that will be more easily absorbed, such as nourishing, firming, slimming treatments, etc...

To rehydrate your skin after a shaving session, you can apply one of our body creams:

  • The nourishing cream Squalane 10% + Shea Butter is enriched with nourishing active ingredients. It restores the skin's lipid barrier, reduces feelings of tightness, and protects the skin from external aggressions.

  • The firming cream Caffeine 2% + Guarana extract contains firming agents and helps to tighten the skin tissues and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

  • The moisturizing cream with 10 ingredients is a minimalist formula that allows for hydrating all skin types, even sensitive ones. It is formulated with 99% natural origin ingredients.

Regarding the face, depending on your skin issues, you can choose one of our following creams:

  • The moisturizing cream with 9 ingredients is a minimalist formula enriched with hyaluronic acid and organic coconut oil. It is suitable for dry, normal, and combination skin, even sensitive ones. However, if you have oily skin, do not opt for this product as coconut oil is highly comedogenic.

  • The nourishing cream made from hyaluronic acid and shea butter is a treatment enriched with lipid-replenishing and moisturizing active ingredients to restore skin suppleness and reduce feelings of tightness.

  • The firming cream concentrated in retinol (0.2%) contains another tightening active ingredient, tsubaki oil. It fights the appearance of wrinkles and makes the skin more plump.

  • The purifying cream Zinc PCA 4% + bamboo extract is enriched with sebum-regulating and antibacterial agents. It purifies the skin and combats skin imperfections. It can be used morning and evening.
