Comfortable in one's age.
Our products help protect the skin, this physical barrier that shields against the external environment. With age, the skin barrier, the superficial layer of the epidermis covered by a protective film called the hydrolipidic film, degrades due to, among other things, a slowdown in cell renewal. The epidermis thins and water evaporates increasingly. The deterioration of the skin barrier gradually leads to a loss of firmness, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and pigment spots.
To say that we can prevent skin aging would be a lie. However, we can reduce some of its signs. How? By providing the skin with hydrating actives, such as hyaluronic acid. Already present in our body, with half of it residing in the dermis, it ensures skin hydration so that it remains supple and smooth. Its content decreases over the years, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the surface of the epidermis. The application of hyaluronic acid topically forms a film on the skin surface that limits dehydration. Moreover, certain actives have the ability to stimulate the natural production of hyaluronic acid, like polyglutamic acid.
Other factors impair the barrier function, such as UV rays, pollution, or even tobacco. By generating an overproduction of free radicals, compounds that degrade collagen and elastin fibers, the lipids of cell membranes, and sometimes even DNA, the skin ages faster. This phenomenon is called oxidative stress. To counter these effects, we offer treatments rich in antioxidant active ingredients, such as the vitamin C which neutralizes free radicals.
Skin aging is also characterized by a decrease in melanin-producing cells, a pigment that protects against UV rays. Every ten years, their concentration decreases by 8 to 10%. With age, the skin becomes more vulnerable. Additionally, the morphology and distribution of these cells change, causing irregular pigmentation on the surface of the epidermis: the well-known pigment spots. Several active ingredients are effective in reducing them, such as tranexamic acid or alpha-arbutin.
One of the key manifestations of skin aging involves the alteration of the structure of fibroblasts, which then synthesize less collagen. However, this fibrous protein is essential for skin firmness. The retinol, the collagen and certain peptides are active ingredients capable of stimulating collagen production at the dermis level to prevent skin sagging.
As you may have understood, we do not prevent skin aging, we can only reduce some of its signs. Within our LAB range, two new treatments have been introduced to prevent and/or accompany skin aging.
The firming and smoothing serum, a treatment that targets early onset and/or recently established wrinkles.
Although it may not be visibly apparent, cellular degeneration begins around the age of twenty; this marks the onset of skin aging. Biological factors, such as the gradual decrease in the body's production of hyaluronic acid, collagen, or elastin, account for this. However, environmental factors such asexcessive alcohol consumption and cigarette use, unprotected sun exposure, pollution, and even stress further accelerate this process.
In light of this, it is recommended to take care of one's skin even before the first wrinkles appear. Thus, around the age of twenty-five, it is relevant to apply a firming serum morning and evening, like this new Typology product. It contains two active ingredients with recognized and demonstrated benefits.
The Vitamin C (10%): This molecule is known for brightening the complexion, reducing pigmentation spots, and slowing down the photo-aging of the skin. Naturally present in the skin, Vitamin C helps to neutralize free radicals generated by exposure to the sun, pollution, smoking... the skin is thus better protected from these external aggressions responsible for photo-aging.
The plant-based collagen (1%): This is a plant-derived fragment of type I human collagen that stimulates collagen production in the skin and increases fibroblast production for firmer and smoother skin. Moreover, it works in synergy with vitamin C for optimized effectiveness.
The wrinkle and blemish serum, a concentrated formula to be applied before bedtime.
Acne-prone skin and skin aging are not contradictory. Hormonal fluctuations and excess sebum can cause blemishes at any age. To combat wrinkles and blemishes simultaneously, this serum combines the following three active ingredients.
The retinol (0.3%): Derived from Vitamin A, this compound is considered one of the most effective in counteracting the degradation of the skin's support fibers. It stimulates the production of collagen and elastin for smoother and more elastic skin.
The bakuchiol (1%): a recent active ingredient in the beauty world, it is extracted from the seeds and leaves of the Psoralea corylifolia (Babchi). Better tolerated than retinol, it is often recommended for sensitive skin. Thanks to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, bakuchiol helps to reduce blemishes. This molecule targets the bacteria that resides in sebum (Propionibacterium Acnes) and limits the production of pro-inflammatory molecules. Moreover, it works in synergy with retinol to limit the degradation of collagen and elastin fibers, thus facilitating the repair of blemished skin while preventing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Plant-based polypeptides : Synthesized by endemic plants of Australia, these polypeptides work in synergy with retinol to promote collagen synthesis. They help to reduce the depth of wrinkles and to densify the skin. These peptides also contribute to maintaining a thick epidermis, which plays its role as a shield against the external environment.
It should be noted that this serum is preferably applied in the evening due to the photosensitizing nature of retinol. It is also generally recommended for skin that is already accustomed to retinol, as its concentration is quite high.
